NATURE WINDOW is an experience-based gallery attached to the hotel Hoshino Resorts Resonale Atami, located on a hill in Atami. Atami, harboring beaches and forests in close proximity to one another, is home to a unique natural habitat and a rich cultural history. Over 50 framed artworks were created as a “window” to the hidden allure of local nature,.
熱海の高台に位置する「星野リゾート リゾナーレ熱海」内の体験型ギャラリー「NATURE WINDOW」の企画・総合ディレクション。海と森の距離が近く、独自性ある自然や文化の宝庫である熱海。自然の知られざる魅力と面白さを知るための“窓”として、額斑された50以上に及ぶアートワークを制作しました。
Background
背景
Atami has a rare environment in which the ocean, forest, and human community all coexist in a small area. Focusing on the relationship between the three that have continued through its long history allows a deeper look into Atami's unique charms.
熱海の自然の特徴は、小さな範囲に海と森と人の営みが凝縮されていることです。長い歴史の中で連綿と受け継がれてきたこの3者の関係性を見せることで、熱海ならではのユニークな視点が見えてくると考えました。
Ocean
海
When seen straight-on, fish look very peculiar and interesting. The patterns of sea cucumbers are nature's paintings. The turban shell creates a graphic pattern. Even pressed seaweed shows beautiful color and shape.
正面から見た魚は奇妙で面白い。ウミウシの模様や海藻押し葉はまるで天然のアート。サザエの蓋を使ったグラフィックは自然との共同作品。
Forest
森
The forest's power seen in the skin and cross section of the camphor tree, a sacred tree to the area, as well as the diversity of the citrus and other flora and fauna, are all part of the rich natural beauty of the Atami area.
この地域のご神木である楠の表皮や断面を写し取ることで見えてくる森に宿る力、鳥や花や柑橘類の多様性。全てが熱海の魅力を形作っている。
