Potato shochu “Hokkaido Kiyosato”

North latitude 44°, at the foot of the Shiretoko mountains in Kiyosato-cho, Hokkaido, is the only Shochu brewery in Japan operated by a local government. In 1975, the first white potato shochu in Japan was created by the inhabitants of this town. In 2014, reaching for a quality to be loved by people around the world, the concept and design of the Shochu was renewed to promote Kiyosato-cho as a culturally rich agricultural village. This project values human connection and is developed through discussion and communication with the village's inhabitants. It is aimed to develop the inhabitants' pride in their village along with the product itself.
